Selection for the Main Written Admission Test

The admission process for this year will be held in a single written admission test; the previous two-phased admission method, including the Preliminary Test, has been officially abandoned for the 2025-2026 session. The admission process is now based on selecting a limited number of applicants to sit straight for the single main Written Admission Test.

General Applicants:
From all correct applicants, only the top 10,000 applicants will be allowed to participate in the Admission Test.

Ranking Priority:
The selection is based on the highest aggregate score in: 1. Higher Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry marks in the HSC/Equivalent exam, followed by 2. Higher Mathematics and Physics marks.

Tie-Breaker Policy:
If the 10,000th applicant has the same total score in the three subjects, all applicants with that score will be considered eligible to take the test.

GCE ‘O’ and ‘A’ Level Applicants:
From all qualified applicants, the top 300 will be selected for the Admission Test, and the selection preference will be based on the grades acquired in Mathematics and Physics in the GCE ‘A’ Level Examination.

Small Ethnic Groups:
All eligible applicants from small ethnic groups will be allowed to participate in the Admission Test, provided they meet the minimum qualifications. In the Engineering Core, a total of 3 seats, and in the Architectural section, a total of 1 seat will be reserved for the Ethnic groups.

The list of applicants considered eligible to participate will be published on the university website.
