What is EMGS?
The full form of EMGS is Education Malaysia Global Services. EMGS is a visa processing agency established by the Malaysian government under the preview of the Ministry of Higher Education. There are some other ministries also interconnected with the EMGS i.e. Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Home Affairs and so on. Those ministries are related to the direct process of International Student Visa application. To make things easier, more conducive, and more efficient, the Malaysian government established the EMGS. It is also called a one-stop centre for processing full visa applications and is under the ruling of ministries in processing synchronizing with EMGS.
Direct Application for Student Visa
The EMGS allows students directly apply for visas online. It is a developed public portal for students that anybody can access. After getting the offer letter, approval letter or scholarship letter, the work of EMGS starts. Two things are important in a Malaysian student Visa-
- The university will give you the offer letter.
- The government will permit you through EMGS to enter Malaysia.
How to create an EMGS account
The Malaysian government has made the processing for international students easiest by introducing EMGS.

- Your EMGS account will be ready.
- After creating the EMGS account it is required to complete the form for a Student Visa application or a Mobility Program application.

- Once filling out the form there will be redirected to the application form.

Important Remarks Before Applying For EMGS Visa Online
There are some important key factors that every student should know before proceeding to an EMGS visa online. Such as:
- If you provide any fake documents or any certificate, transcript or documents that you have provided but that is not true then your visa will be REJECTED.
- The option to apply for EMGS online is only applicable to applicants who are willing to attend public and private universities.
- Solely the new international applicants are eligible to use the EMGS online application form.
How to check the EMGS Malaysia visa?
After the application is done, you can trace the EMGS application. You can easily get information on the EMGS application status. You have to visit the EMGS website again and click “Track My Application.” the following page will appear-
You will have to fill up the Travel Document Number, Your nationality, and Application type. A percentage in three different colours will be shown based on the progression of your application status. You can also see the history by clicking on “Application Progress History.”
- The green colour means your application is progressing accordingly.
- The yellow colour means your application is pending additional documents or correction by your institution.
- The red colour means your application has been rejected or expired at the current stage. Please contact your institution for advice.
EMGS Payment
For the EMGS application, international students have to pay a non-refundable 2,500 Malaysian Ringgit or USD 566.57. You will not get the refund or you can not request that.
EMGS Visa Processing Time Limit
If there are not any false documentation or flaws, then a correct EMGS visa processing takes a total of 14 working days. A question may arise, how can you know your EMGS application is correct? Sometimes some small issues arise while applying, for example, the images you provide are not clear or according to their requirements. In these cases, your application process will be delayed. The authority will let you know and you will be given time to correct the flaws and resubmit.
